(2014-June 29-July 1) Hell For Sure Pass and the Le Conte Divide. Sierra National Forest, California.
Left the San Diego area around 0630 hours and made it to Courtright Lake around 1330 hours (after picking up my permit in Prather). Began a 12 mile hike up to Fleming Lake and made camp late at about 2000 hours. Woke early and hiked to "Hell For Sure" Lake and set up camp on the north shore. The weather was extremely warm with little breeze and the mosquitos were at their peak!! Took a nice nap, woke and climbed up to the pass (Hell For Sure) overlooking Goddard Canyon from the Le Conte Divide.
Beautiful area. Climbed back down to camp, rested, and then hiked and climbed around Hell For Sure Lake with nice views of Horseshoe Lake and Arctic Lake. Got back to camp and enjoyed the cloudless evening. Woke early to a cloudless morning, got some nice shots of Mount Hutton at dawn and decided to race back to Courtright Lake and end the trip a little early, rather than battle the mosquitos for another hot and long day. Beat after hiking 15 miles back to my vehicle at approximately 1220 hours, I left the area and headed home.
