(2010-August 11-14) Bear Ridge to the Seven Gables Basin. Western Sierra Nevada Range, California.
Came in from the west side. Hiked the Bear Ridge Trail down into Bear Creek and onto the John Muir/Pacific Crest Trail to Seven Gables Creek. The real beauty doesn't start (in my opinion) until you start climbing east up Seven Gables Creek and the trees start thinning out. Didn't have the weather I was hoping for on this trip, however it was beautiful just the same. Climbed up to Seven Gables Pass (12,040'), which has a great view east and west. Mount Hilgard to the North and Mount Humphreys to the southeast can be seen also. Early the following morning, I hiked up from my camp to Vee Lake and captured some dawn shots of Seven Gables reflected in the lake. A pretty much cloudless trip. Hiked out the following morning.
