Thoughts:
Scripps Pier is one of the most photographed icons of La Jolla California. You may reach the pier after a nice 1/2 mile walk along the beach. My first attempt at a symmetry photograph!!

Thoughts: As I normally do when I'm headed out to the Sierra Nevada mountains from the San Diego area, I find myself in the Mojave Desert off of Highway 395 when the Sun is about to break. This shot is one of my favorites involving a lone Joshua tree and Sunrise. The Sun only winked at me for a few seconds before rising into the clouds and losing it's color.

Thoughts:
This was one of those "Racing against the Sun" and "Running down a canyon" type of situations as I was trying to get to False Kiva (had never been there) before the late afternoon light was gone. I had just made it and I was one tired son-of-a-gun as I had been canyoneering in the area during the day.

Thoughts:
Was visiting Yellowstone (gotta get back there!) and was walking around in the area near Tower Falls when all of sudden this critter walked out from the brush in front of me!! Luckily I had my camera around my neck, ready to go and also lucky this bear didn't have a cub with it. I didn't notice the bear was chewing and looking right at me until I uploaded this photograph on my computer when I got home.

Thoughts:
Artist Ricardo Breceda's metal sculptures are absolutely amazing and beautiful and are a lot of fun to photograph. I captured these two life-sized horses as the Sun was rising behind them.

Thoughts:
I drove from Alpine California to the Arizona Superstitions, jumped outa my Xterra and began hiking the Peralta Canyon Trail in the late afternoon. I reached the Fremont Saddle and noticed the last rays of the Sun were hitting the Needle.

I knew the light would be spectacular after the Sun set and I was not entirely happy with this angle (Fremont Saddle), so I quickly ran to the edge of a steep cliff approximately a 1/2 mile away to capture this scene as the light faded. Hiked back to my vehicle in the glow of my headlamp. This was my first trip to the Superstition Mountains and I will definitely be back soon, gorgeous area!!

Thoughts:

Captued this sunrise at the edge of a Lake Powell cliff near Hole-in-the-Rock. Once again, I was hoping for a nice cloud set but made do without and settled with this nice sunburst instead.

Thoughts:
This was captured one evening as I was on one of my routine training hikes up Viejas Mountain in Alpine (California). The large rock in the foreground has a wonderful pyramid shape and the beautiful sunset in the distance really helps the shot out as well!

Thoughts:
Captured this photograph on the Coronado Island side of the bridge. It was one of those especially beautiful mornings after a clearing storm, which revealed the crescent Moon.

Thoughts: The Cathedral Valley section of Capitol Reef National Park is a remote and beautiful area. These delicate "Mud towers" stand as impressive landmarks compared to the surrounding landscape. To the left of this Temple of the Sun can be seen the Temple of the Moon, an equally beautiful sight!!!

Thoughts: This scene was captured in the Nine Lake Basin in late Spring. There was a beautiful thunderstorm on this particular afternoon and as it broke, the basin came to life with awesome cloud formations. Kaweah Queen can be seen to the left of this unnamed peak in the center.
